“The only criterion that matters to parents in time of crisis is being close to their child,” said Cindy Conine. “What is unique about the Clubhouse is that everyone is treated the same. The only thing taken into consideration is a family’s need, not how far away they reside or their financial means. We are thrilled with the renovation of the shared spaces and private rooms.”
When Jeff and Cindy Conine’s son was born prematurely, the Visitor’s Clubhouse at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital was there for them so they could stay by their son’s side throughout his hospital stay. The Conine Clubhouse has provided that essential resource for thousands of families.
Earlier this year, the Taft Foundation committed $1 million to assist with capital and ongoing operational needs of the Clubhouse, ensuring it remains a “free” place to stay for families in their greatest time of need. The Levitetz Family Foundation donated $115,000 to help renovate the private rooms in the facility. City Furniture generously provided $50,000 of in-kind furnishings.

Their contributions significantly enhance our overall mission of providing patient and family-centered care,” said Kevin Janser, senior vice president and chief development officer, Memorial Healthcare System.
Another supporter, Calder Casino & Race Course raised funds for the first part of the Clubhouse’s renovation by hosting the popular Conine Celebrity Poker Tournament over the past three years. Calder is also the Title Sponsor of the Conine All-Star Golf Classic that raises funds for the operations of the Conine Clubhouse.
The Visitor’s Clubhouse opened in 1997. The personal donations and unwavering support of the Conines motivated officials at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to name the facility in their honor. Since 2003 the facility has officially been called the Conine Clubhouse.
Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital provides high-quality medical care for children in the community regardless of their family’s ability to pay. More than 7,000 families from across the United States and more than 20 countries have used the Conine Clubhouse’s private rooms, playroom and family support area during times of medical crisis. The Conine Clubhouse is located on the hospital campus and provides all the amenities of a three-star hotel. It is a non-profit residence that is supported through donations from individuals or corporations and funds raised from special events.

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation: Established in 1994, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation raises funds to assist patients and their families and to underwrite the cost of programs, facilities, and equipment at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, the leading children’s hospital in Broward and Palm Beach counties. The new Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital opened its doors to patients on July 21, 2011. The four-story, 180,000-square-foot facility has six operating rooms, imaging services, and an entire floor dedicated to pediatric oncology care.
